Google to Compete with Apple for Digital Magazine Subscriptions

iPad magazine subscriptions are experiencing a surprising drop, according to the figures released by the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Although the mobile magazine format had an impressive start a few months ago, the subscription rates are now taking a dip. Magazine subscriptions have significantly dropped among all of the well known names including GQ, Vanity Fair and Wired. Wall Street Journal has speculated that Google may now try its fate for this market by introducing its own digital newsstand.
To tackle the dipping digital magazine subscriptions and the competition from Apple, Google may offer concessions to magazine publishers and ask for a lower split in. However, with its digital newsstand still only in the developmental stage along with the apparent fall in the magazine subscriptions faced by apple, it is hard to say if Google can outperform Apple in this segment.
